One pouch could be used for a reservoir such as a camelback, a second pouch that has elastic and also an adjustable strap and then there is the main pouch area. In the smaller compartment you have a clip for keys, a zippered pouch and slots for pens and the like. There is also a fleece lined pouch to put glasses or sunglasses which is a very nice feature.
